Receive Specialist Support from Psychotherapist Lucy
At Nude Nutrition, we want to ensure we have a safe environment, to support and empower our clients. As part of working on healing your relationship with food, other challenges can unfold or be present. For this reason, our in house psychotherapist Lucy Fowler, MBACP (Accred) MA, MSc, is available.
Therapy will focus on the emotional and psychological side of healing your relationship with food and body, and anything else that comes up during this journey. She can offer support independently, or alongside support with your Dietitian.
Lucy’s approach is HAES-aligned and informed by the principles of Intuitive Eating and (if applicable) and compliments the support offered by the Dietitian’s at Nude Nutrition. She is able to support anyone with food issues, body image, and self-esteem.
Lucy offers a 15-minute discovery call before you start working together. During which you can talk more about what therapy will involve, and give you time to ask any questions.
Imagine if…
You could stop measuring your self-worth in inches and pounds, but rather through the moments that fill your day.
You could get rid of that voice telling you what you should or shouldn’t eat, and create more confidence, headspace and energy to live and enjoy your life.
You could stop the negative, critical voice in your head telling you that you or your body isn’t good enough so that you can live your life feeling okay just as you are.

What will therapy involve?
Lucy’s approach is HAES-aligned and informed by the principles of Intuitive Eating and (if applicable) fits alongside your work with your dietitian. It will focus on the emotional and psychological side of healing your relationship with food and body, and anything else that comes up during this journey. As an integrative psychotherapist, Lucy combines existential, humanistic and psychodynamic perspectives to meet the needs of individual clients. This means that she will treat every client as an individual, and see clients not as “broken” and needing to be fixed, but as someone who is struggling and needs support because life can feel hard for many reasons, both past and present. Lucy seeks to provide a safe, contained and non-judgmental space for clients to work through their difficulties. This might involve talking about body image and self-esteem issues, childhood, relationships, work pressures, grief and loss, and other difficult and painful emotions. The work often focuses on challenging shame and cultivating self-compassion, understanding how the past impacts us, how and why we use coping mechanisms to manage difficult experiences and emotions and helping clients move towards a place of understanding and acceptance.
Intuitive Eating is an evidence based and non-diet approach to wellness that helps you break free from the chronic side effects of dieting. It offers freedom from restriction and food rules and gets you back to normal eating. It’s an approach to help you get out of your head, and more into your body, removing the should / shouldn’t voices that constantly sit on your shoulders. You will learn how to honour your hunger, respect your fullness, how to cope with emotions without relying on food, and much much more. It’s about taking weight out of the equation and allowing our body to settle at its natural weight once eating patterns normalise.
What to expect from therapy with Lucy
Lucy offers a 15-minute discovery call before you start working together. During which you can talk more about what therapy will involve, and give you time to ask any questions. If you are both happy to work together, you will decide on a regular time to meet (weekly or fortnightly). Lucy will then send you a link to your sessions and payment. Sessions take place on Microsoft Teams and are 50 minutes long. Lucy has a 48-hour cancellation policy, anything less than this still requires payment.
What is discussed in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for Lucy to get to know you, a bit about your background and what has brought you to therapy. There is no pressure to tell Lucy everything in this session and you will not be expected or pressured to talk about things until you feel comfortable and safe to do so. Lucy might ask some questions as you go and if there is anything you want to ask Lucy, you will have time to do so. In the last ten minutes of the session, Lucy will discuss how the session has been and what feels best in terms of frequency of sessions (and possibly the number of sessions, although not necessarily).
How often do we speak?
Sessions are 50-minutes long and are usually delivered in six-week blocks. Towards the end of every sixth session, you and Lucy will review how the therapy is going, what is or isn’t working, and check you are happy to continue working together. You can work together for up to 12 months, regardless of the frequency of sessions. At the end of each session, you and Lucy will confirm the time of your next one, and Lucy will then send you a link to it immediately following the session (and every six weeks, a link to pay for the next block).
